Daily life

What living here is really like

Tyler State Park is the fact that organizes Newtown Township life: more than 1,700 acres of creek valley, farm fields, and paved bike trails beginning where the neighborhoods end. Homes near the park’s edge trade on that access, and the park plus the Council Rock schools reputation is most of the reason buyers shortlist the township in the first place.

The commuting story is honest suburbia: no rail station inside the township, so drivers take the Newtown Bypass to I-295, and train commuters park at Woodbourne on the West Trenton Line one township over. In exchange you get the borough’s walkable dining a bike ride away and one of the region’s best state parks as a de facto backyard.

rail West Trenton Line via Woodbourne station No station in Newtown itself — the usual park-and-ride is Woodbourne in neighboring Middletown Township.
